NYC City Proof 24hr Waterproof Eyeshadow Pencils

I recently purchased the NYC City Proof 24hr Waterproof Eyeshadow pencils and I purchased two shades, Murry Hill Champagne and Tribeca Taupe. Cream eyeshadows are my thing these days and eyeshadow pencils are so easy to use. I remember last year, I purchased one from L'oreal, and I wore it almost every day in the winter. It was so easy to use and when in a rush, you grab this stick, apply and you are ready to go.

According to NYC, these eyeshadows

♥ have incredible staying power (24 hours is pretty amazing)
are waterproof
are smear proof and tear proof
do not crease
give a vibrant colour
easy to use as they glide beautifully
come in eleven lovely colours, lots of neutrals in this collection
can be used as liner or eyeshadow

The packaging is nice, it is a stick with the exact colour of the product on the outside and has a twist up mechanism. These eyeshadows are creamy, have a good colour pay off and they settle and dry very fast. I apply these eyeshadows on my eyelid and blend them with my finger, it is somehow difficult to blend these with a brush.  These eyeshadows will be perfect for someone who has oily face and struggles to keep the eyeshadow on the eyelid for longer than 2 hours. These babies will stay on, no matter what!

Murry Hill Champagne is a gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous metallic champagne colour. Extremely pigmented, shimmery and shiny, great to use as a base and to highlighter the inner corners of the eye. God, I love this one so much and it would be perfect to wear for a formal event or a night out.

Tribeca Taupe is a taupe brown colour, probably the loveliest combination of brown and grey. I don't think I own a shade like this one and I love to wear it on its own or as a base for my eyeshadows. This shade is matte and slightly less creamier than Murry Hill Champagne.

These claim to last up to 24 hours, but come on, who needs or wears an eyeshadow for 24 hours straight? Obviously, I haven't tested to see if this is true, but I have been wearing them from 7am till 3pm and they are doing fine. So an 8 hour mark is fine with me, I don't need my eyeshadows to last longer than this.

I purchased these eyeshadows for $2.99 each, which is a great deal since they are wonderful products. I love using my palettes but as I mentioned above, these pencils are great if you are in a hurry and have not time to do full makeup or for traveling, these will be perfect to take with you while traveling.

Are you a fan of pencil creamy eyeshadows? What is your favourite?

  3. Gorgeous colours! I've not yet converted to a shadow pencil and still prefer powder ones but I think these are way easier to use.

    1. I know right? Why bother and do a 24hr formula if I am definitely not going to wear it for 24hrs?

  19. They're so pretty! I don't understand why brands make those 24 hour claims because most people won't use them for that long, and they also most likely won't last for an actual 24 hours! Either way, 8 hours is still an impressive wear time :) They both look so pretty in the swatches! I'm glad you're enjoying them :)

    1. It is a ridiculous claim, isn't it? I don't understand the 24hr concept either, of course I am not going to wear them for 24hours straight! :) Thank you so much!

  25. It always makes me laugh when makeup claims to last for 24 hours - it's so unnecessary! The champagne shade looks really pretty and creamy.

  27. First of all, I love your pictures :) we don't get this brand here in the UK. I love the look of the Taupe. I never used to, but the last few years have started having issues with eyeshadow not staying put, so these sound like they would be great for me.

  33. Do you wear these with primer or nah? Murray Hill Champagne is such a gorgeous shade, and I've always been curious about NYC's eyeshadow sticks, since they're so inexpensive and twist up (vs having to sharpen!) I'll definitely need to check these out next time!
