Five nude lipsticks to wear now

I haven't worn a nude lipstick in a long time now. In spring and summer I get so excited to wear my pink shades and I do this until the end of August. But now, it's time to re-discover some nude shades I have been keeping at the back of my dresser and give them some love!

It is no lie that I love my Essence lipsticks. They are super affordable, they have a great selection of shades to choose from, however, the quality may not be always the best, I've had some ups and downs with this brand, but who cares? They are so affordable and that gives me the chance to buy more shades and experiment. And that is why four out of five lipsticks I am talking today are from Essence.

Essence 03 Come Naturally - Come Naturally is a pale mauve shade that looks brown on the tube, however it comes mauve on the lips. It is a strange shade and not everyone loves this one, it totally depends on your skin tone on how it looks.

Essence 40 Look at Me - this is a frosty sheer nude and has a little bit of glitter in it. Looks lovely on the lips and does not wash my face out, and probably because of the glitters, it looks like a lip gloss when you wear it. Many reviews say that this one looks horrible on pale skin tones and not flattering at all, but on my medium skin tone, this one looks nice.

Essence 05 Cool Nude - this is my favourite nude shade along with the NYX one. It is the perfect brownish/mauve pink nude, applies nicely on the lips and more pigmented than the other Essence lipsticks. This is the kind of lipstick that you grab, apply and go. So pretty!

Essence 11 Nude Love - this shade is a pale pink nude shade and comes lighter than it appears on the tube.  It is very similar to the natural colour of my lips and I like it because it gives a nice glow without putting extra colour. Great for everyday use and for days when you want to go natural and avoid heavy makeup.

NYX Thalia - this one is a muted mauve shade and the formula of it is creamy and very soft and applies beautifully on the lips. It is so similar to the Come Naturally but this one is slightly darker than the Essence one and more pigmented. I wrote a review about this one here.

What are your favourite affordable nude lipsticks? Tell me in the comments below and give me some ideas on what to buy next!

  1. I have very few nude lipsticks, as I like my bolds too much!
One I quite like is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey Douce.

  2. With Essence lipsticks, I feel that you pretty much get what you pay for. The quality isn't the best, but they are still decent considering the low price tag, and pretty good for casual wear. I also think that the shade range is pretty amazing! I love nude lip colours all year round, although I don't own that many. Would love to check some of these out, they look beautiful! :) <3

  3. I need to really check out Essence's products already! I used to have Thalia! But unfortunately it looked more like a weird super pale pink on me. On you, it looks beautiful and almost rose-toned!

  12. I have actually had incredibly positive experiences with essence (and NYX of course too!). I find their lipsticks to not be drying, and actually prefer them over MAC sometimes for this reason (also prefer the MAC colors).

  14. Oh wow...I never would have thought the majority of these lippies were from Essence. I too have also had hit-and-miss experiences with the brand, but for that price you can't really go wrong. MUA is another cheep and cheerful makeup brand, but the quality is far superior to Essence, I've found.

  16. I really wish Essence was easier to find in Scotland. I think I could order them online from Wilkos (which we don't have here either), but I've heard their collection is so hit or miss I'm not sure where to start. These lipsticks look lovely though!
